Explanation of .3gp file extensions:
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) created the 3GPP formats and standards for transmitting audio and video files over the Internet as well as between 3G cell phones with video capture capabilities.
The .3gp files deliver multimedia over broadband mobile networks to the latest compatible wireless devices. 3GPP and the newer 3GPP2 are based on Apple’s MPEG-4 format. The latest versions of QuickTime support for the two 3GPP specifications.

One of the most common problems with .3gp files is opening them. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime on your PC or wireless device? 3GP files require the appropriate software in order to run.
If you want to remove a .3gp file, go to Windows Explorer and enter *.3gp in the Search box. Windows will now search the drive for any file with the .3gp file extension. Next, find the file you want to delete in the results list and right-click it. Choose “Delete” and click “Yes” when prompted.
Another common .3gp problem occurs when the Windows registry contains invalid entries or has lost its references and file associations for .3gp files.
