Explanation of .amsorm file extensions:
The .amsorm file extension stands for Auction Management Systems Online RingMan. It is a file extension used by the Online RingMan software which allows remote bidders to participate in traditional auctions.
The .amsorm file should be set to open with “RingStart.exe” which should be located in the Auction Client folder.
Typical problems associated with the .amsorm file extension:
One of the most common problems with .amsorm files is when your file associations are not set up properly. Because Online Ringman connects to live auctions over the Internet, you are often asked to download files, including .amsorm files which may not be recognized by Windows.
Another common .amsorm problem occurs when you are protected by a firewall and cannot connect to the appropriate server.
Solutions/Recommendations:
First, make sure you have the most current security patches and updates from the Online Ringman software manufacturer. Next, make sure that your file associations are set to have RingStart.exe open all .amsorm files. Do this by going to the Start button, right-clicking it, and then navigating to your Auction Client folder. Right-click the .amsorm file and choose “Open With” from the submenu. Next, scroll down or browse your computer to find the RingStart.exe application. Choose RingStart and click the box that sets it as the default program for opening .amsorm files.
If you are having trouble because of a firewall, the TCP port range from 5,000 - 9,000 as well as the UDP port range from 9,000 - 10,000 will need to be open for outbound connections. You can do this by temporarily disabling your local firewall software and anti-virus software if installed or having the network administer open the ports on the network firewall.
Use care if you must disable your security software and re-enable it immediate afterward. Run a complete system scan to make sure your system wasn’t infected while your software was disabled.
Run a registry cleaner to resolve many common .amsorm errors.
