Explanation of .pes file extensions:
The .pes file extension is used by Brother, BabyLock, and Bernina for storing stitches for use on home embroidery machines. You can create files using Designer's Gallery Studio. And either edit or convert .pes files using Embird Plus.
The PES format is also displayed in Buzz Tools Plus and BuzzXplore.
Computer aided manufacturing files such as PES files contain instructions for embroidering with a sewing machine. These files can contain codes including "stop," "jump," and "trim." Various sewing programs can open and view these fils.
PES files are usually created with the PE-Design software that comes with Brother sewing machines.

One of the most common problems with .pes files involves opening them. You must have compatible software as well as a compatible sewing machine in order to use these files.
Solutions/Recommendations:
You must have the appropriate application on your computer in order to work with .pes files. In addition, the application must be associated with the .pes file type. If you click on a .pes file and nothing happens or a dialog box appears asking which program to use, you don’t have a valid file association set. You can set this manually by right-clicking the .pes file and choosing “open with†from the menu that appears. From there, choose the appropriate compatible application. If you want this application to be the default for opening .pes files, click the box below the dialog and place a check mark in it.
If you want to create your own custom embroidery yet don’t have a sewing machine, you can create .pes files and upload them to a 3rd party such as ThreadSmith who will then create the garment using your design.
