Explanation of .ppd file extensions:
The .ppd file extension is used in conjunction with Postscript printers. These files contain information describing the printer’s fonts, paper sizes, resolution, and other features. This tpe of file is needed for printers that support the page description language known as PostScript.
Typical problems associated with the .ppd file extension:
One of the most common problems with .ppd files is when it is missing. When the PPD file is corrupt or missing, the printer will experience problems.
Another problem is when you have the wrong printer driver for the language level of the PPD file. Printers have several language levels: level 1, 2, and 3. You will need to have the right driver for the language level that you have. In addition, certain operating systems don’t support level 1 printers so you may need to use a different driver.
Another common .ppd problem occurs when the Windows registry contains invalid instructions or has had references to .ppd files or the related printer removed by spyware or other processes.

You can download numerous PPD files from Adobe’s Web site found here: www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html in the Printer Drivers section.
You may not find your printer’s specific PPD file there though. If you can’t find the required PPD file from Adobe, you can check the floppy disk or CD-ROM that came with your printer. If you no longer have the disk, contact the printer manufacturer or visit their website to see if you can download the required PPD file from them.
Once you have the PPD file, you will need to install it with a PostScript printer driver such as AdobePS (Adobe PostScript printer driver). You can download this driver here:
