.QBB File Type
File extension: QBB or .qbb
Author of the .qbb file extension: Intuit, Inc
Category: Backup file
Programs that use the .qbb file type: QuickBooks
Explanation of .qbb file extensions:
The .qbb file extension stands for Quick Books Backup. These files are backups of financial data that has been created by Intuit’s QuickBooks money management applications. The .qbb file is used to restore the original data when something happens to the primary .QBW file such as accidental deletion or file corruption.
Typical problems associated with the .qbb file extension:
One of the most common problems with .qbb files is that, like any file, these files can also become corrupt especially if they are stored on the same sector of the hard drive and the sector goes bad. This becomes a problem because not only is the original data gone, the backup is gone too.
Another problem is when the file is fine but QuickBooks can’t open it.
Some data may not be present when restoring the .qbb file.
Solutions/Recommendations:
If both the original QBW file and the QBB file go bad, you may be able to recover your data using data recovery software. In addition, you can use the disk error-checking utility to check and repair the hard disk itself.
For problems with QuickBooks opening the QBB file, simply rename the file extension from ".qbb" to ".qbw" so that the file will open properly in QuickBooks.
When restoring a .qbb file, you may only have data up until the last backup. Usually, QuickBooks makes the .qbb file when the program is closed. If the program hasn’t been closed in several days, your backup won’t be as current as expected.
