.SDK File Type
File extension: SDK or .sdk
Author of the .sdk file extension: AutoDesk
Category: Data file
Programs that use the .sdk file type: Auto Sketch
Explanation of .sdk file extensions:
Auto Sketch is a Computer Aided Drafting program with a set of CAD tools used for creating precision drawings such as electrical schematics, floor plans, and product specifications. A completed document is saved with the .sdk file extension.
SDK files can also represent a file created with the Smart Diary Suite Cookbook program from Programming Sunrise Ltd.
Typical problems associated with the .sdk file extension:
One of the most common problems with .sdk files that you must have an application capable of opening these files. For example, if you have AutoSketch, you can open SDK files that another person has created with the software. However, if you do not have AutoSketch or a compatible program, you will not be able to open an SDK file.
Another problem occurs when your computer no longer recognizes AutoSketch as the default application for opening SDK files. This can happen if invalid instructions or has had file associations to .sdk files have been altered or removed by spyware or other processes.
Solutions/Recommendations:
If you need to open an SDK file, you must have the appropriate software on your system. You can also ask the person who created the SDK file to save the file in an alternative format so that you can view it on your computer.
If you are running Auto Sketch but Auto Sketch does not open when you click an SDK file, you can reset the file association manually. Do this by right-clicking the SDK file and choosing Open With from the submenu. Next, scroll through the list until you find AutoSketch. You may need to browse the PC for the application. Next, place a check mark in the small box that asks if you’d like Auto Sketch to be the default application for SDK files.
If you are getting file corruption or computer errors related to your SDK file, clean out the Windows registry with a registry cleaning utility.
