The .wpl file extension stands for Windows Media Playlist. A playlist contains a list of songs or videos that can be played on the Windows Media Player. You can also use it to create dynamic playlists. This file extension was introduced in Media Player version 9 where the auto playlist feature uses the .wpl file extension. Whenever you save a playlist in Media Player 9, the playlists are saved using this default file type.
