.XFDL File Type
File extension: XFDL or .xfdl
Author of the .xfdl file extension: Unisoft Wares, Inc.
Category: XML documents
Programs that use the .xfdl file type: Various Web browsers
Explanation of .xfdl file extensions:
The .xfdl file extension stands for Extensible Forms Description Language. These files are XML files that are secure, legally-binding documents that can be sent electronically and digitally signed.
Typical problems associated with the .xfdl file extension:
One of the most common problems with .xfdl files has to do with viewing it in the web browser. For example, if you are viewing and entering data into an .xfdl file in a browser and hit the “back†button, the browser’s cache will reload the original form without your data in it when moving forward.
Another common .xfdl problem occurs when you are working offline. Links and buttons on the form may not work.
Solutions/Recommendations:
You should be able to view .xfdl files on any Web browser. IBM Forms uses the xfdl language. IBM has a series of Forms technologies and solutions including Forms Designers, Forms Servers and Forms Viewers. While you may be able to access the form over the Web, you may need a plugin in order to view it. This is usually automatically installed unless your security settings are blocking it. If so, click the yellow warning bar and follow the instructions for allowing the installation of the plugin.
If your computer doesn’t know what program to use in order to open an .xfdl form, right-click the downloaded form and choose “open with.†Next, find your Web browser or form viewing software if you have a viewer. Click the box to make your selection the default program for opening .xfdl forms.
